In our India, government servants are classified as the following types based on their designation.
They are
Group - 1/A
Group - 2/B
Group - 3/C
Group - 4/D

Group - 1 or A :

It is the highest rank job and the highest salary jobs. It consists posts like

• IT commissioner
• District collector
• Commissioner
• District social welfare officer ect...,

It has a toughest competition.

Group - 2 or B :

It consists posts like assistants mostly for Group - 1 or B officers.

• Assistant commissioner of IT etc..,

It also has toughest competition but slightly lesser than Group - 1.

IAS and IPS are also comes under Group 1 and Group 2.

Group - 3 or C :

It has Inspector level Jobs and general employees.

It is easy to clear Group - 3 than compared to the above groups.

Group - 4 or D :

Posts like Clerks, data entre jobs are comes under this group.

There is no written exam for this group, only a interview with good merit skill is needed.
